easel
A cabinets and sideboards collection designed for the Italian furniture brand Minotti.
Storage units are usually designed as boxes with short supporting legs underneath. In this collection, a table was initially designed and as a second step a storage unit was added as if to “fill the gap” between the top surface and its supporting legs. The legs are designed as upside-down V shapes, similar to trestles used under working surfaces or easels used for painting. The shape of the legs enhances their presence in the design and creates a sense of familiarity. All units combine polished metal for the legs, matte wood for the joinery and a stone surface as a tabletop. The use of different materials creates a natural separation between the three components and allow all three to be equally visible.
