moya

Low table
2009.04

for Arketipo

If a surface doesn’t cast a shadow, does it exist?
The moya low tables rest a glass table-top on a base made from Baydur, an abrasive highly resin used for industrial applications like ball bearings.
Because the inside of the base is hollowed out in a sphere, the top seems to have neither shadows nor edges, as if it is shrouded in mist with no sense of depth or perspective. The illusion dissipates only when an object is set on top, casting a shadow and bringing the table’s depth into focus.
